Klaxon
During the turbulence surrounding the football World Cup we find
ourselves remembering horns made out of thread spools which we
saw years ago in a market in Cairo.
For the forthcoming final we make copies of these horns using
empty plastic bottles. We produce various models and afterwards
sell them on the streets of Paris and in the metro. In doing this we
discover ourselves to be exotic - for tourists on the hunt for
authenticity; and in a strange kind of feedback our socio-romantic
view of the recycled thread spools in Cairo is projected back onto
us by the gaze of the tourist camera.
