las
flores de la reforma
The "Paseo de la Reforma" represents the boulevard of Mexico, laid
out
by the emperor Maximilian according to the example of European cities
and leading from the noble living areas in the south-west to the centre.
Around Christmas, approximately two kilometers of the sides of the
Reforma were planted with thousands of "nochebuenas" (poinsettias),
which wilted and lost their leaves within a few days.
Against this background, with the line "¿porque se han muerto?"
(why have they died?) we sing of the sad view of the flowers.
